Chitral valley is ancient valley and its capital is city of chitral. It is surrounded by the Wakhan, Badkhshan, Asmar and Nooristan area of afghanistan in the north, west and south-west. Chitral is divided into small valleys by the might Hindukush range. Chitral is famous for food, music and sitar.

Chitral is undoubtedly the most romantic, captivating and enchanting place in the majestic Hindukush range. It is a mountainous area in the extreme north of pakistan. The landscape of chitral is extremely mysterious with its steep harsh black mountains, lush green valleys, beautiful meadows and huge glaciers. Before modern age it was one of the most difficult and inaccessible area of the world. Chitral have famous and historical valleys such as Booni, Golen, Madaklasht, Garam chashma, Arandu, Birir, Rumbur and Bumburat valleys.

Historically, Chitral was independent princely state and ruled by local mehtar and mir. During the reign of mehtar the local population was intact into same territory and yet not discovered other places. The patrimonial linkage were between gilgit, ghizer and Hunza-Nagar
Alexander the Great tribesman are still living in chitral with same old costume and attraction for the tourists. They are called kafir-kalash or “wearers of the Black Robe”, a primitive pagan tribe.
They have still living festivals and every year they are celebrating with zeal and zest. The religious festivals includes JOSHI CHILIMJUSHT, PHOOL, and CHOWAS.
Folk of Chitral

A legends says that chitral is the land of poetry and love. The mystical traditions still have fragrance of love tales, folk tales and human bondages. The khowar language is one of the most sweet and simple communication medium and it imprints many beautiful autobiographies of lover and beloved. Even the rumi says that love lasts in the mist of lover and beloved.
